Date Night with the Chef

It’s Friday night, and you all know what that means – date night with the chef. Tonight we decided to go ice-skating. I was so excited when he said yes, since he is really not into ice-skating. Since we ate out last night, chef decided to make a quick dinner – chicken risotto and spinach and tomato salad. Quick, healthy and easy. It was so delicious. I gave up wine from Sundays to Thursday, so as soon as I walked in the house I knew I wanted some Evolution white – crispy and tasty and it hit the spot.Once we got to the ice-skating arena and realized that there is a line around the building, we decided to stop by the Macy’s (finally got the coffee bean grinder – yipee) and Target for few essentials for my trip to Orlando. Since it was an hour later we thought the line would subside, but it was three times longer so we decided to get a drink at the next door bar – Mulligan’s and go in around 10:30pm. I don’t remember last time we went and had a drink at the bar, probably 12 years ago…I had some good old Heineken and chef had a glass of Guiness. This was my first taste of Guiness. It’s not that surprising since I am not a big beer drinker. As we were enjoying our beer and taking silly pictures, couple next to us ordered nachos. They looked and smelled delicious. We were both so tempted to order some, but since we just ate dinner, there was really no reason to. Next thing you know, I was saying to chef, “oh I can make them so much healthier at home with some wheat chips, organic salsa, 2% sharp cheddar, green peppers, yummie” his response “Who are you and what did you do with my wife????” Believe it or not this is the best response a person on the healthy mission could get. I know it sounds so strange, but for the first time in my 31 years of life, the healthy mission has been the most satisfying feeling ever. Even better, earlier today, I was at the salon getting my eyebrows waxed and they had all kinds of Dunkin Donuts and I just looked at the box and felt absolutely no urge to have any. Wow, wow, wow is all I can say. It’s really true, once your mind is in it, it’s easy.Ice-skating was awesome. Chef decided not to venture out, but I did, and the average age in the arena was 16…But the 31 years old was the queen of the ice…After about 30 minutes of skating, it was time to go home and hit the hay since tomorrow is a busy day, of to the magical city I go…the American Culinary Federation Annual Meeting. I feel like I have no place being there, but I got to recruit some chefs for the Americas Chef Competition.See you all tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend….

    I didn't even know there was a blog from you, but I enjoyed what I read today. Wish you had pictures of the chef ice-skating… work on that one! 🙂 The food looks great!
